The last drop was when the citizens started taking the stones to use in building their own homes. This was stopped when a 19th century mayor called a halt for historic saving.
http://marypurpari.blogspot.com/2013/04/n-is-for-nerve.html
Mary Purparihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09115707814297485372noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5758308854209130362.post-8764776377029318862013-04-17T03:52:52.157+01:002013-04-17T03:52:52.157+01:00I love castles and these look beautiful. What fun, Paula!

I enjoyed my visits to two castles, one in Devon and one in Kent when I was there in 2009. It's the thing to do when visiting England, for sure. You sure had to be in shape going up those winding steep staircases. Must have been hard in long gowns and wearing armor. Not at the same time of course. ;)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14795043512080007108noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5758308854209130362.post-55172932681055549802013-04-16T22:17:57.722+01:002013-04-16T22:17:57.722+01:00I thought you'd eventually get around to Hogwa...I thought you'd eventually get around to Hogwarts:))Grace Grits and Gardeninghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06960487975588091603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5758308854209130362.post-55260756475868825092013-04-16T21:36:13.978+01:002013-04-16T21:36:13.978+01:00Bambrough's certainly spectacular, Margaret.
