“You said I had a half share of the house and the fifty thousand
pounds.” Even saying the words seemed surreal. She hadn’t yet wrapped her mind
around what the money actually meant. “Who gets the other half?”
“I’m sorry, Ms. Sutton, I don’t have that information. The Dublin
law firm is dealing with the estate and I’m sure Mr. McGrath will be able to
tell you more when you meet him in Dublin.”
“When I meet him in—? Whoa, hold on, who says I’m going to
meet him?”
Another photo of Connemara for you!

Very nice, Paula! I'm intrigued to find out who will be "sharing" the house. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like that she doesn't sound as though she believes or wants all this. And yes I do wonder who 'the other half' is. Great snippet, Paula.
ReplyDeleteSudden wealth must be a very disturbing event, even if welcomed. I'm not surprised she's wary of going to meet a stranger in Ireland. Good tensions set up here. Love the pic of Connemara!
ReplyDeleteYup, I'm hooked as well. I'm dying to know who gets the other half of the house and what the stipulations are. Terrific snippet!
ReplyDeleteI think her reactions are very believable. Not only are half a house and money unexpectedly tossed at her, now people expect her to go to Ireland! Nice job.:)
ReplyDeleteWell there are always strings attached, aren't there? Can't wait to see who inherited the other half! Excellent excerpt!
ReplyDeleteExciting about the money and now I want to know who she's going to be sharing it with. Great job. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh boy, adventure time. I'm fully entertained by this story. More please.
ReplyDeleteOh I want to know who will be sharing the house. Intriguing snippet!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE her response. That is exactly what I'd say in that situation. Wait, what? When am I going to Dublin? LOL great snippet, Paula. :)
ReplyDeleteAlways strings are attached! Bet this one will be super interesting.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to meet her co-heir---I'm sure they'll hit it off right away (cough). :)
ReplyDeleteThank you all! As this will be the first page of Chapter 1, it's good to know you are already hooked and wanted to find out more, especially about the co-heir!
ReplyDeleteOf course she's going to meet him! Who in their right mind would pass up a chance to go to Ireland?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very fun and intriguing setup! And yes, she definitely needs to go to Ireland.
ReplyDeleteYeah, who gets the other half?? Post more next week, please! :)
ReplyDeleteShe'll be in Ireland by the end of Chapter 1 - and so will the co-heir ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading more of this. Well done!
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting.
