Another excerpt from my November release, ‘Her Only Option’.
Neve is irritated at being disturbed by a man, albeit rather
an attractive one, on the neighbouring sundeck. Thinking he’s a smooth-talking poser
trying to chat her up, she informs him she’s a tour guide – but is unprepared
for his response …
“Oh, one of those.”
She bristled with indignation. Not just a cruise ship Casanova,
but a rude one too. “And what’s that supposed to mean?”
“You hear them everywhere you go,” he replied with a small
shrug, “usually churning out half-baked facts from poorly written and often
inaccurate guide books.”
Her indignation flared into annoyance.
He's not doing himself any favours at the moment, is he?
‘Her Only Option’ will be released next Thursday, November
1st, by Whiskey Creek Press.
An advance review says "Once again, Paula has penned a wonderful tale incorporating a unique story line, romance and just the right amount of conflict for her characters. This is definitely a must read by the brilliant author Paula Martin."
Blurb:
Neve Dalton loves her job as a tour guide on a River Nile
cruise ship as much as she values her independence. She isn’t ready to settle
down with her Egyptian boyfriend, despite his repeated proposals and his
father’s desire to see him married.
Nor is she ready to meet Ross McAllister, a compelling and
fascinating archaeologist. She struggles against her growing attraction to him
until she can no longer ignore what her heart is telling her. This is the man
who sets her soul on fire.
When she starts receiving cryptic messages, and Ross’s work
in the famous Valley of the Kings is threatened, Neve has to make a
heart-breaking and life-changing decision which she feels is her only option.
Can they discover whose enmity is forcing them apart before
it’s too late?

lol, Nice six, Paula! I love your voice :-)
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, I immediately like that guy, especially if he's trying to chat her up. The fact that he can't keep his opinion to himself even when trying to land a date means he's going to be fun to read.
ReplyDeleteI thought that he'd put his foot in his mouth last week, but he's working on his ankle now. I hope she puts him in his place.
ReplyDeleteI love the button pushing, it's so much fun to read and you've captured it here so well.
ReplyDeleteWell if he thinks he can do better at it, why isn't he a tour guide?
ReplyDeleteThese two are going to be fun.
Do you conflict so well, Paula. I love the tension between them and I'm dying to know she responds!
ReplyDeleteA cocky alpha for sure. I like it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteLibby - so glad you like him because he's one of my favourite heroes
J.M. - yes, she'll give as good as she gets!
Thanks, S.J. - they're both good at pushing buttons ;-)
Kate - wait for her reaction when he tells her what he does!
Joanne - you'll find out part of her reaction next week!
Donna - that's definitely the impression she's getting too!
I loved his response and that he's not afraid to say what he thinks. Although he has some ground to make up if he wants to impress her at all!
ReplyDeleteHe certainly isn't doing himself any favours!
ReplyDeleteIf he's trying to get on her good side, this isn't the way to do it. Great six on the miscommunication sail, Paula. :)
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love books about Egypt and archaeology. Lots of conflict in your six!
ReplyDeleteClare - don't worry, he'll make up that ground - eventually!
ReplyDeleteStevie - you're right!
Siobhan - the miscommunication will continue.
Patricia - you should enjoy this story then, as it's all set in Egypt, especially the Pharaohs' tombs in the Valley of the Kings.
I don't blame her, I'd be ticked too! Good luck with the release this coming Thursday!
ReplyDeleteI know he's kind of a jerk in this snippet, but I can understand his reaction. I've met a few tour guides who fit his description perfectly. Nice six.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Claire!
ReplyDeleteJess - you're right, we had a tour guide in Egypt who, while not inaccurate, droned on with far too much information - too much to take in, so you ended up getting bored!
Haha! Perfect! She makes snap judgements, but doesn't like it when someone does that about her! I like these two and can't wait to see what happens next!
ReplyDeleteWonderful miscommunication between these two.
ReplyDeleteSounds good, Paula! There's an award for you over on my blog.
