I'm combining two days with this blog, as June 8th and 9th were taken up mainly with travelling.
On Sunday, June 8th, we had a taxi to the airport and left Las Vegas at 11.15am. This was our last view of the Strip from the airport
And here we're flying over part of the Grand Canyon.
We arrived in Newark about 7.30 (after 'losing' 3 hours because of the time difference) - with another view of Manhattan as we handed (it's there in the distance and you can see the Freedom Tower if you look very carefully!)
.
Then it was farewell (temporarily) to Helen, as I took a taxi to my overnight hotel, Howard Johnon's, only about 10 minutes away from the airport.
Monday, June 9th saw me back at the airport about 9.30am, and a late boarding of the plane to Buffalo, which took off at 12.30pn (instead of 12.05). We made up time, however, and arrived at Buffalo at 1.30pm. Pat and Aggie were there to meet me (and that's Aggie peeping from behind the sign!)
We crossed the border into Canada at the Peace Bridge (over the Niagara River as it leaves Lake Erie).
Lunch stop was at Betty's at Chippawa - for fish and chips!
Then we drove along the Niagara Parkway - with a quick peek at the Falls - to St. Catharines (on Lake Ontario)
I've not been past the Falls going on into Canada from there.
ReplyDeleteIt looks quite lovely.
