Sunday Snippet

Another eight sentences from my work in progress 'Irish Inheritance' for the Weekend Writing Warriors and Snippet Sunday.

You’ve met Jenna and know she’s the co-inheritor of a large legacy and a house in Ireland. Now meet Guy!

Guy Sinclair eased his aching shoulders and stretched out his legs as the plane circled on its final descent. He glanced through the porthole as they circled the bay, and wondered for the hundredth time why he’d agreed to come all the way to Dublin. He didn’t give a damn about an old house, and had no idea why the Irish lawyer was so insistent.

“He wants you to see the house before you make any decision about selling,” his New York lawyer had told him.

Still reeling from the surprise of hearing he was about to inherit half a house and cash from some old dame in Ireland, he’d shrugged. “Okay, I guess I can humour him.”

After he’d left the lawyer’s office, he crossed Fifty-Ninth, found an empty bench at the edge of Central Park, and called his mother in New Jersey.

“Mom, do you know if Dad’s mother had any connections with Ireland?”

Many thanks to everyone who visits each Sunday, and for your encouraging comments.

  6. awk! Sheesh, why do I never meet a guy as hot as that?? lol!

I like how you've set this up, first showing us the whole scene with Jenna and now some with Guy. It really helps with getting to know each of them before we see them together.

  25. I love Ireland, the old buildings, the land that holds it and the archives for research. Some of my favorite time has been spent in Ireland researching family and all the buildings and land associated with it. I hope guy falls in love with the whole experience as much as I have when I have been there.

  26. I love Ireland too, Red Wing - and Guy will fall in love with it too :-)
