Blurb: Lisa Marshall is stunned when celebrated volcanologist
Paul Hamilton comes back into her life at the college where she now teaches.
Despite their acrimonious break-up several years earlier, they soon realise the
magnetic attraction between them is stronger than ever. However, the past is
still part of the present, not least when Paul discovers Lisa has a young son.
They can’t change the past, but will it take a volcanic eruption to help them
change the future?
My previous excerpts showed how Lisa caught sight of Paul for the first time on the college campus and made an excuse to avoid him. Now they are forced to meet.

Fiona
gave a smug smile. “I see you’ve recognised Paul Hamilton. Paul, this is Dr.
Lisa Marshall, head of the TV Journalism Department.”
Lisa
cursed inwardly, knowing the colour had flooded to her cheeks. She’d caught
Paul’s initial stunned expression but now his blue eyes were expressionless as
he held out his hand to her. “Hello, Lisa, it’s been a long time, hasn’t it?”
'Changing
the Future' is available at $3.99 on Amazon

I like the way you described his reaction. It feels quite authentic for someone who unexpectedly encounters someone who represents a tumultuous part of their past. Very nice job.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jess. He's as stunned as she'd been earlier when she first caught sight of him.
ReplyDeleteI do love a reunion! I like how she catches a flicker of his initial reaction. Super six!
ReplyDeleteAfter that initial reaction, Paul's so calm and collected. I don't think he'll remain that way for long...
ReplyDeleteGreat six!
Thanks, Sandra and Cassandra - yes, he's stunned but recovers quickly!
ReplyDeleteStrong six. I love how each reacts to the initial meeting, or re-meeting as it were. Very engaging and 'real'.
ReplyDeleteSorry you missed the linky but glad you posted to me so I'd know to find you :c) Thanks
He's acting so professional. It's as if he doesn't have the same emotions as she does. Men!
ReplyDeleteGrand. A professional man behaving in a professional manner. That bodes well. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tempeste - and thanks for linking to me on Twitter :-)
ReplyDeleteWildcats - he's still stunned!
Elin - actually he's putting on a front because there's someone else there!

Great tension between the characters. I love how Paul went from shocked to cool in a flash. I'd love to know more about their past. Fantastic six!
ReplyDeleteNice job. Tit for tat. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat description of how the two feel in just six sentences! She's horrified, he's gone from shocked to indifferent...really great six!
ReplyDeleteHe recovered well, for now. I wonder how long he is going to remain cool though.
ReplyDeleteLove a good awkward gotcha moment. He recovered nicely but will it hold once they are alone?
ReplyDeleteNice! I love their reaction to each other. There is a ton of information conveyed--and done so smoothly. Nice flow, Paula. :-)

ReplyDeleteGreat Six Paula!
Ooo, he's playing cool. Will be interesting to read her response. Nice six! :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, isn't he playing it cool? Hope she knocks him on his tush.
ReplyDeleteOne question hits me from your lead-in. Is she a single mother to her son, or is she married? Could make quite a difference.
ReplyDeleteMelynda - the first couple of chapters give you the clues about their past history.
ReplyDeleteM.L. - I think it's a mixture of both, although they would probably deny the love at this point!
Joya and Kylie - don't worry, she's going to give as good as she gets!
A-ha, Sue - you'll have to read the book to find that out LOL!
