Another six sentences from my
new novel, 'Changing the Future' which was released last
month.
After a short, curt conversation with Paul, Lisa returns to her office.
Why was she allowing him to have this effect on her? Their
relationship was over; everything had ended the day she came back from Berlin.
She shuddered, remembering the accusations, the anger, and then the agonising
pain.
Hardly surprising that he’d said she wouldn’t want to
reminisce about ‘old times’. She didn’t even want to be reminded, let alone
talk about what had happened.
It was bad enough to realise the very nearness of him had sent tremors quivering through her, just as it always had.

Blurb: Lisa Marshall is stunned when celebrated volcanologist Paul Hamilton comes back into her life at the college where she now teaches. Despite their acrimonious break-up several years earlier, they soon realise the magnetic attraction between them is stronger than ever. However, the past is still part of the present, not least when Paul discovers Lisa has a young son. They can’t change that past, but will it take a volcanic eruption to help them change the future?
'Changing the Future' is available at $3.99 on Amazon
Many thanks to everyone who visits my blog each Sunday :-)

Wow that's brilliant, Paula. It's wonderful to read that your contemporary romances 'His Leading Lady & Fragrance of Violets' are doing so well. Well done you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the books. And great six. Love the inner conflict.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't sound like it is all that over...
ReplyDeleteMajor congrats on your books, Paula. That's awesome!
ReplyDeletePoor Lisa. Looks like she's still got it bad.
Congratulations on the Amazon placings of your other two books. AS for today's six, I can totally empathise with her. I want to know more :-)

Woot!! Congratulations, Paula!
ReplyDeleteI love how you layer in the backstory here, dropping a little more of "what happened" between them each time.
Great six!!
Perhaps a fresh start is best...but I'm sure the chemistry has continued to age like a fine wine.
ReplyDeleteGood six! I really enjoyed them.
ReplyDeleteAh, regrets, recrimination, quivering tremors...great six, Paula!
ReplyDeleteIf he's still affecting her that, it's probably not over. Is that good or bad remains to be seen. Great, emotional six.
ReplyDeleteGreat six - we really feel her conflict!
ReplyDeleteNot so easy to walk away from the past - this six really makes me feel her emotions, terrific!
ReplyDeleteI feel so bad for her. It's a shame we can't control our emotions no matter how hard we try. Fabulous six. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you all, first for your congrats about my Amazon placing, and second for all your astute comments about Lisa's inner conflict. Her head is telling her one things, but she can't ignore her heart and emotions, much as she wants to!
ReplyDeleteLove the internal conflict! Great six! :)
ReplyDeleteoh, Paula, she's making me cry. The pain is still very real. off the charts, fantastic 6. This is going to stick with me.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jessica and S.J. - and if one of my characters is making you cry, I must be doing something right!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Paula!
ReplyDeleteI feel so bad for Lisa. I just want to hug her!
Was it mental or physical pain?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the #1 and #2! Poor Lisa. Confronting a painful past with someone is hard enough, but to still have feelings despite denying them? Yeah... Great six!
ReplyDeleteThe more I learn about these two, the more interesting their back story becomes. It sounds like sorting through the emotional baggage will take some time and make for some very interesting reading.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kate!
ReplyDeleteEmotional pain, Sue! All is revealed - eventually!
Thanks, Silver. She doesn't want to admit she still has feelings for him!
You're right, Jess - they have a long way to go to sort out the part (and then find the way to change the future!)
Sounds like she still has it bad. Great six, Paula. And congratulations on your other two contemporaries! That's so great. :)
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Siobhan!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't a child always complicate something you'd rather leave in the past? Poor Lisa.
