Six more
sentences from ‘Changing the Future’.
At the end of the first week, Lisa and Paul are forced to meet again when a
group of staff go to an Italian restaurant for lunch. It seemed to Lisa that
Paul was making deliberate, although veiled, references to their past life
together. Back at college, they have another brief spat.
As she turned
towards the main door, his voice stopped her. “No references to the past then,
Lisa? Not even the good times?”
She stopped,
bit her lower lip hard as memories flooded through her, and then looked back at
him. “I can only think of the bad times, Paul.”
She caught a
glimpse of his small shrug before she pushed open the door and took a deep
breath of fresh air.

ReplyDeleteJessica - yes, two stubborn people (sigh...)

Thanks, Joanne :-)
K.E. - you're right, a huge amount of emotional baggage!
Dee - the shrug will be explained next time!
Jeez, makes me wonder what exactly went down between these two that she can't even recall the good times. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI don't think what she said can be true - she's still hurting, right?
ReplyDeleteThey need to make new good times, okay. Make them make new good times, please, Paula. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this! I can't decide if she's coming or going and I definitely want to read more. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI'd be cheating if I commented, since I've now read the book. And liked it.
ReplyDeleteElise - she can recall the good times but doesn't want to!
ReplyDeleteKristal - yes, you're right.
S.J. - don't worry, they will make some more good times, but not just yet!
Sharon - she can't decide either!
Thanks so much, Sue :-)
The past is going to be hard to let go of when it's staring her in the face.
ReplyDeleteHe's got his work cut out reminding her!
ReplyDeleteGreat emotion wrapped up in those six... Great job.
ReplyDeleteAwww, that's sad! Maybe he can find a way to help her remember the good. Great, emotional six.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it will take a lot of effort to resolve their issues.
ReplyDeleteGreat six.
"I can only think of the bad times" - I love that line.
ReplyDeleteAw, l think we've all felt like that at one time or another.
